Meet the President 

David L. Guglielmi is President of Metropolitan Investment Group, LLC Prior to his tenure at Metropolitan Investment Group, Mr. Guglielmi served in the U.S. Departments of Commerce, State and Treasury. Mr. Guglielmi advised U.S. companies on international business strategies as well as foreign policy and economic/commercial factors germane to the successful conduct of multinational business operations. Mr. Guglielmi has over 15 years of business and diplomatic experience helping firms expand internationally; develop market entry strategies; finance and insure their overseas trade and investment; identify opportunities; foresee, define and limit risk; forecast and defend against adverse action by foreign government and regulatory agencies; establish ties with key foreign partners and senior government officials; and advocate to secure foreign contracts and develop business. He has assisted numerous corporations in his capacities at the White House, the Departments of Commerce, State, and Treasury, and at assignments in American embassies abroad.

Significant Accomplishments

  • Identified an inventory of barriers to international electronic commerce development, and developed proposals as to how they may be resolved.
  • Worked with the nations of the Middle East to resolve impediments to increased business operations. Negotiated a better business climate for American firms operating in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates through the U.S.-GCC Economic Dialogue and advanced the commercial interests of U.S. firms through a series of high-level meetings with the six Persian Gulf member nations of the GCC.
  • Proposed a commercial agenda for senior-level Bush and Clinton administration travel to Europe, Israel, North Africa and the Middle East and South Asia.
  • Worked through Binational Commissions with numerous countries to achieve a more accommodating trade and investment environment, advance specific commercial projects, win contracts, and control threats to business operations on behalf of a wide range of firms.
